Cleaning; some people love it, some people hate it, but either way, we've got to do it. Since we've been spending so many times in our homes it's important that we feel comfortable in our space, and that we make it appealing and inviting. Unfortunately, cleaning products can often be full of toxic ingredients that we don't want to be spreading around the house. But, with a little bit of effort and know-how, it's possible to make your own cleaning products yourself, making them less toxic and more eco-friendly. A sparkling home is at your fingertips, and we're going to explain how to make a product that works for each part of the house.
The bathroom is one of the places of the house that should be cleaned most regularly. Don't worry though, this can be very satisfying since once it's clean you can see the sparkle. To make your own DIY bathroom cleanser you will just need baking soda, liquid soap, water, and vinegar. Shake the ingredients together and place them in a bottle, then apply using a cloth or a sponge. After spraying give the area a good rinse, and just see how great it looks afterward.
Since the kitchen is where all the cooking takes place, it's important that the hygiene standards are high. We don't want dirt or any kind of toxic chemicals to be around the same place that touches the food we will eat. Particularly inside the fridge, it can be easy to leave food stains hanging around, but it's best not to let these build up. Instead, use hot water, white vinegar, and some drops of your favorite smelling essential oils. Place them in a squirt bottle then use it to clean the inside of the fridge. It might sound like a hassle, but believe us, when you see how your fridge looks and smells afterward, you'll thank yourself for doing it.
Even though we might not be awake for all the time we're in there, our bedroom is a place in the house we definitely spend a lot of our lives. For this reason, it's important to be sleeping in a fresh and clean environment. Our DIY product tip here will leave the air nice and healthy, as it's a homemade natural air freshener. All this one takes to make is water, rubbing alcohol, and essential oils. Combine these products together and, after giving them a good shake, simply squirt into the air. You can choose the smell depending on which oil you choose, so the end result is fit to your taste exactly. Sweet dreams!
4. Living Room
Living rooms can get dusty quickly as they often see a lot of traffic. Whether it's entertaining guests, the family sitting to watch TV, or more recently a space for YouTube home workouts, it's important to make sure that our living space stays clean and doesn't get stuffy. This dust remover recipe will ensure that however much your living room is used, it stays fresh. Simply combine dish soap, lemon essential oil, and water. Add them into a spray can, and, after giving it a good shake, apply it to the surfaces in the room with a cloth to get rid of any dust or dirt hanging around.
5. Mirrors & Windows
Lastly, we come to the glass in the house. These can be easily overlooked, but the difference between dirty glass or shiny transparent glass is a big one. In order to clean these objects in the house until they sparkle, add the following ingredients; water, white or cider vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and essential oil. Shake these up once they're in a container then squirt onto the cloth you will rub the glass with.
